Philadelphia/Coffee Shops

I’m back!

I took a slight hiatus, if you hadn’t noticed, to get my Philly AirBNB up and running! It took a while, but it’s been fun adventure for me that took up some of my blogging time. However, I’m ready to rock again and I guess now you can call me a Philadelphia/New Jersey blogger since I split my time pretty evenly.

That brings me to the topic of this article. Each time I go to Philadelphia, I plan on stopping at by one of the gazillions of coffee shops that are there. There are so many options, and I want to make sure to try as many as I can, and then report back about my favorites.

COFFEE SHOP – FIRST STOP: ONE SHOT CAFE

Located in Northern Liberties, One Shot Cafe is a little narrow coffee shop with shared booth seating, and an order at the coffee bar style. They offer a variety of coffees including the usual such as drip coffee, espresso and americano, but also have fun drinks like the S’mores Latte that I had my eye on.

Outside One Shot Cafe. Top from Express. Pants from Windsor. Trench Coat from Macy’s.

I have to say, though, if you are like me and run cold, wear many layers before visiting One Shot…because it is COLD in there (in the winter). They do keep it warm inside, but every time someone opens the door, the wind flows through the whole shop.

The Menu

I ordered the Tofu Scramble, which was made of butternut squash. I was concerned that it wouldn’t taste very good, but I took the risk. Well, let’s just say I was pleased.

There was such a mixture of vegetables and the spices used (I think turmeric and curry) gave it the slightest kick. It was so filling too, as it came with avocado, toast, and hash browns! I was filled until dinner time. was concerned that it wouldn’t taste very good, but I took the risk. Well, let’s just say I was pleased. I was actually dancing in my seat while I was eating it. My friend ordered “The Ultimate” which is what you see in the back there. Pretty basic sandwich, but was done right.

Overall, I’m a fan.

One Shot Cafe is the perfect place to sit and catch up with a friend while drinking good coffee and eating tasty, slightly original meals. It is not a good destination for someone who is looking to sit on their computer and do work. My computer was left in its bag the whole time, partly because I was having a good conversation with my friend, and partly because the second I got up someone would be looking to sit down. Yes, it is that busy.

Me!

SUMMARY:

  • Bring layers in the winter, it gets cold!
  • Tasty food, creative drinks
  • Perfect for catching up with friends over breakfast/brunch
  • Not a place to bring work to get done
  • Fairly priced for what you get

Thats all for today! If you’re local to Philadelphia, make sure to stop by One Shot Cafe for some good food and look out for future coffee shop hops!
